Abstract
This considers the implications for the republican armed struggle of the emerging debates about dealing with Northern Ireland's troubles . It focuses on the difficulties republicans have in integrating the actualities of their campaign in border areas of Northern Ireland into a narrative of a legitimate struggle of national liberation.
