Abstract
Some nutritional parameters have been studied in 5 and 10 litre fermentations for the bioconversion of sugar beet pulp into a protein-enriched product in a process of simultaneous saccharification and fermentation (SSF). In a single-stage bioconversion process beet pulp was upgraded to a 42% protein level with 35% product recovery in 48 h, when pulp of 2 mm particle size was used in an SSF medium supplemented with 2% beet molasses.
