Abstract

Michael Moore Departures’.* Solo Touring Exhibition. Millennium Court Arts Centre Portadown Feb 4th- Mar 30th, Wexford Arts Centre May 16th – June 30th, Strule Arts Centre Omagh, July – August Farmleigh Gallery Dublin (OPW) Sept 1st – Oct 20th. 2009. Work prepared during residency at the Banff Centre for the Arts, Alberta, Canada 2008.At Farmeligh this body of work formed a two person exhibition commissioned by the Office of Public Works in Dublin, with wood turner Emmet Kane. It was titled Earth Spun (Kane) Frozen Fire (Moore).. Reviewed in Ceramics Review 2009 and Keramik Magazin Europa no. 4 2009. From this Series 'Outcrop' was selected to represent the National Craft Gallery of Ireland at SOFA (Sculptural Objects, Functional Art), Navy Pier Chicago USA, 2008 from where it was acquired to the permanent collection of the Irish Department of Foreign Affairs to permanently tour the Irish Embassies around the world. From the 'Departures' Series Switch Form' was acquired to the permanent collection of the Ulster Museum, and 'Acrobat' to the permanent collection of the National Museum of Ireland. 'Last Column' was selected by independent curator Brian Kennedy for the National Craft Gallery of Ireland 'Object' exhibition, 2009. This exhibition paired contemporary Irish Craft with the collection of the Arts Council of Ireland. Catalogue ISSN:978-1906691-08-0. The catalogue essay by Dr. Audrey Whitty of the National Museum of Ireland (ISBN:978-0-9558649-1-9 was later published in Ceramics Art and Perception and Keramik Magazin Europa.
