Abstract

Strange that you wonder – but we do it as well. 5 biographical extracts from German-Turkish in between realitiesaudio-visual installation. Café Kotti, Adalberstr. 96, 10999 Berlin, daily open from 9-129 August – 4 October 2009. The audio-visual installation presents the transformation of a number of transcribed excerpts of migration biographies. The work was installed in a Turkish café in the centre of Berlin-Kreuzbergs, the heart of the biggest Turkish Diaspora community outside of Turkey. The selected migration biographies reflect the problematic and failed sides of a migratory movement. It also reveals its consequences on a life- like refused asylum statuses, deportation, torture and detainment, broken families, generational and gender conflicts.Every migratory movements stats with the aspiration and expectation of a positive chance of the current situation- and non of these movements is 100%, predictable or controllable.
