Abstract
Emerging innovation intermediaries and methods such as living labs are gaining prominence in Europe and are already embedded in R&D funding programmes in the EC. Living labs are a quadruple-helix (Galbraith and McAdam, 2011) intermediary that involves academia, industry, public sector and end users. In the keynote address, it is argued that living labs can be facilitated by regional innovation policy and have the potential to add value to more traditional innovation intermediaries such as university science parks and incubators.
