Abstract

Theme specific ceramic sculpture made and selected for 'Bricks in the Rain' group exhibition, Farmleigh Gallery, Phoenix Park, Dublin.Exhibition curated by Hilary Morley. 'Bricks in the Rain' is the conclusion of a 2 year project where 13 Irish Artists travelled to China to create the Irish Pavilion of the International Ceramics Museums (FLICAM.COM) in Fuping China. As Curator Morely invited artists to respond to thier experiences of being in China. Moore to this invitation to again explore surface manipucation and interrogation of form akin to 'Dazzle series' research but this time chose specific reflections to contemporary Chinese architecture and explored new transparant glaze applications to multi layer the form. This was a response to the multi layers of chinese colour, cluture, architecture and urban life, with colours and textures chosen to reflect that. With Moore part of the funding sub committee this project secured a 14,000euro (£11,000) grant from Culture Ireland.Farmleigh Gallery is Part of the State organisation The Office of Public Works.
