Abstract
A response to proposals by Belfast City Council for new development around the city's Laganside and Waterfront Hall venues for expansion of existing business tourist/convention use. The article argues that any new development must be aware, and wary, of previous legacies to 'regenerate' Laganside through private-led frameworks. The author advocates an integrated approach where private investment is led by public-space priorities to reconnect a more welcoming, shared, waterfront to the Belfast city centre.
