Abstract
The article surveys various aspects of Whitley Stokes' endeavours in the field of Celto-Sanskrit research. Various etymologies, observations on Celtic and Vedic mythological characters and on customs and practices surviving in the late 19th c. India and echoed in Early Irish legal documents are considered.
