Abstract

The '24 Ways 2010 Annual' is an annual anthology of writing by 24 internationally respected designers working within the web design industry. Published by Five Simple Steps, the anthology is edited by noted designers Drew McLellan and Brian Suda and includes articles by, amongst others: Andy Clarke (www.stuffandnonsense.co.uk), Ethan Marcotte (www.ethanmarcotte.com) and Simon Collison (www.colly.com).'Good Ideas Grow on Paper' investigates the practise of 'idea generation' and urges designers to abandon the default use of Google and Wikipedia as conduits of inspiration, in favour of simple tools and lateral thinking to grease the runners of the creative sled.This piece was also included in 24 Ways 2010 (http://24ways.org/2010) a web-based, annual anthology.
