Abstract

This body of research is concerned with the role of drawing as a means of conveying a sense of memory and place. A phenomenological approach has been used as a research method. The research outcomes (exhibition of artefacts) have been supported by LAND2, an interdisciplinary research groups concerned with the aesthetics of landscape, locality and environment Feathered Hills and Devolve are two mixed media drawings with assemblage investigating landscape, sense of place and the role of memory. Further research has been developed in drawing and intaglio printmaking (see exhibit 'Evolve' (F.E. McWilliam Gallery, in conjunction with Seacourt Printworkshop 2011)A sketchbook research study into weather patterns and sky formation has subsequently become translated into a series of exhibition drawings and intaglio prints.
