Abstract
This chapter assesses coastal tourism for the whole island of Ireland (Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland), addressing first the context in which tourism occurs, the nature of visitor flows and change, the mix of visitor attraction and the position coastal tourism attractions and beaches play in overall visitor choice,and the economic benefi ts of tourism. Coastal regions as tourist space are discussed. Present climate and future changes are discussed and the effect of suchchanges on coastal regions and tourism products is assessed.
