Abstract
This books explores the ways in which various forms of Irish popular culture have represented Irishness and Irish identity. The book looks at television drama, Irish cinema and popular music and explores the issues through a consideration of the rapid economic, social and cultural changes in Ireland during the period from 1980 to 2000. Chapters include discussions of the city, the landscape, religion, women, popular music generally and Van Morrison in particular.
