Abstract
The aim of this chapter is to address issues associated with the management of social housing in general and to examine the roles and responsibilities of the various landlords, government departments, and other bodies who are involved on the social housing system in Northern Ireland. The chapter will identify the changes that have taken place within the sector and the effects these have had on the selection of tenants, care in the community, homelessness and giving tenants greater control of their housing situations. Local factors affecting the management of social housing will also be considered within the overall policy framework.
