Abstract

This series focuses on small reproduction images of landscapes found on the walls of disused staff rooms and office space. This body of work considers landscape as the space of projected fantasy within the run-down institutional interiors. This practice of using idealised images of landscape as a means to attain mental escape from one’s surroundings was encountered in the Anne Frank house, where in hiding and unable to go outside, she had pasted magazine cuttings and images of landscapes to her bedroom wall.
