Abstract

Educationalists should continually improve their knowledge and understanding of their academic subject and, where applicable, be fully informed of current best practice in industrial and professional situations. It is generally accepted that research and scholarship in this area must be reflected in the design and delivery of educational programmes. Key questions are asked about why this should be so. As a basis for discussion the recent step changes in an MSc in Construction and Project Management are considered. The external and internal demands for change are examined, their value determined, any changes and their implementation explained, and resultant benefits explored.
