Abstract
Simultaneous Echoes, a collaborative audio/visual project between composer Frank Lyons and media artist Masaki Fujihata, explores how notions of contested space and border may be challenged in cyberspace. Using 'Fieldworks', a software program specially designed by Takeshi Kawashima, Simultaneous Echoes is a series of six short pieces wherein digital video from locations in the North-West of Ireland, controlled by GPS data and projected in 3-D, is fused with computer-generated soundscapes spatialised using 8-channel playback to create an environment which transcends accepted boundaries on a variety of levels.
